Brainstorm

My topic is about society’s fascination with shows that have to do with evil. I decided to do this because I am one of these people. I love watching shows that deal with concept. I watch shows like Lucifer, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, You, Forensic Files, and so on. All these shows either deal with murderers, psychopaths, witchcraft, or the devil. All of these concepts are not something we focus in school or deal with in our everyday life. They are a complete mystery to me. I wanted to do this feature story on this topic because I want to know why. Why do we have this obsession with watching this? This is considered the evil of society. Why do we have this fixation on these subjects? A lot of the time while I am watching these shows, I find myself asking the question: why am I watching this show? I’ll then go on a long speech trying to find my answer. I’ll always conclude that I am watching this because it is something that is unknown. This is something that we do not know about. It is out of the norm and it is our human nature to become curious about the things we do not know about. We do not know about murderers or the devil like math. We are not taught this every day. These are things that we do not know much about. It is unknown to us. Most of us wake up thinking I do not want to go to school today but some people wake up thinking I am going to kill someone today and that is not normal. We are curious about this because this is not a usual thought and there are shows about this so we watch it. This even goes for the devil and witchcraft. We were always told to stay away from stuff like this but I think the curiosity is what brings us to know about these subjects. I think there is also a temptation there to learn about this. We are told not to pay attention and not to know about these things but I think there is a temptation there to learn it. We need to satisfy this temptation so we indulge in watching these shows. There is temptation to know about these things since we are told not to. It is like a kid and candy, if you tell the kid that they cannot have a piece of candy, they will obviously try to get it. The kid is curious as to why they cannot have this certain candy. We are the kid in this case and evil is that piece of candy. We have this deep curiosity for the unknown and I guess, these shows are what allows us to somewhat satisfy this curiosity. I am really excited to write this feature article because I am someone who watches these shows and I want to know why I, as well as so many other people, watch them. I am eager to find out the different explanations for this and just overall, motivated to write this feature story.
